About Me

Who Am I?

I am a senior analyst at Astellas, a globally-renowned pharmaceutical company based in Tokyo, Japan. Previously, I received my master's degree in Computational Social Science (MACSS) at the University of Chicago and a dual bachelor's degree in Math-Scientific Computation and Political Science-Data Analytics from UC San Diego.

I love using computational and statistical methods to tackle business/social science/public policy problems. In my free time, I love to run, sing, bike, explore good food in town, go to museums, and pet cute animals.

What I do?

Here are some of my expertise

Software Engineering

I am proficient in Java, Python, MATLAB, R, Excel, Javascript, React, SQL, C, Qt Designer, SPSS, Tableau, Stata. I have a good understanding of data structures and algorithms (DSA) that allows me to write clean and optimized code, and find the efficient solutions to problems.

Data Science and Analytics

I am skilled at processing, training machine learning models on, and analyzing big data. I am familiar with large-scale computing frameworks such as MPI, MapReduce, Spark, and OpenCL, and can efficiently apply these frameworks using AWS and Python.

Web Development

I have experience building websites using JavaScript, React, HTML, CSS. I create well-designed, thoroughly-tested programs by incorporating data from back-end databases and services, validating testing schedules, and performing UI designs.

Highlights from Work Experience

Senior Analyst at Astellas Pharma US Jul 2023 - Present

I am currently a senior analyst on the Global Brand and Market Analytics team at Astellas Pharma US. My responsibilities include conducting brand-related strategies, opportunity discovery and investment decisions with advanced analytics (Customer Segmentation, Patient Adherence Analysis, HCP Network Analysis, etc.), and advising key stakeholders on how best to leverage the opportunities. My journey with Astellas could be traced back to even earlier: I have also interned with Astellas as a business analyst in Summer 2022. During my internship, I directed and completed an exploratory Network Analysis to identify the most influential Hospital Medicine Groups (HMGs) throughout gastric cancer patient’s journey using Python, R and Gephi. My project helped inform key market decisions to prepare for product launch in the US market.

Web Developer at IPPH (Institute for Population and Precision Health) Sep 2021 - Jun 2023

I assisted the developer's team in building next-generation research participant management system using Python, Django, SQL, and AWS. I wrote front-end tests for React components using Cypress and worked on autosuggested address field feature using ArcGis.

Data Scientist Intern at University of California San Diego Information Technology Services Jun 2020 - Sep 2020

My teammates and I followed Model-View-Controller (MVC) design pattern and developed data science administration tools in Python. In four months, we designed several analytic views that queried, organized, and aggregated data in an in-memory data platform SAP HANA that automates back-end data processes to facilitate data-driven decisions by policy makers across the UC system
